President’s Message Judy Hoffman
First, let me say thank you to Michele Barnard and all the other officers and committee chairpersons
for your service to FSQ the past couple of years. We wouldn’t be such a great group if it weren’t for
these volunteers. Again, thank you.
Thanks also to Jennifer Rossmere, Barbara Skelly and Kathy Swartz for ensuring that our yearly
audit has been completed.
As the new president I am learning what is involved with the job and hope you all will be patient with
me as I try to figure out what and when things should happen.
For those of you who don’t know me, I was a high school art teacher for 39 years – now retired. I
also worked as Dean of Students at the school for a major portion of that time. I have been married
for the past 42 years with one each daughter, son-in-law and a very precious 7 year old
granddaughter.
My studio area in college was fiber and weaving which may partially explain how I got to quilting. My
mother was an expert seamstress, so I too learned to sew. Being almost six foot tall I was forced to
sew to find clothes that fit. Many years my summer job was working in a local fabric store. So my
dreaming of sewing projects and collections of fabric began.
I look forward to getting to know more members of the guild and finding out how you got to quilting.
Maybe we can feature members each month to find out how you got to love quilting.
I am looking forward to this coming year with hopefully less Covid, a chance to get to know you all
and a creative productive quilting season.
Judy
