President’s Message
Anne Flaggs
Hello Quilters,
I hope you are enjoying your summertime and finding ways to beat the heat. I’ve
been up in New Hampshire for July so enjoying beautiful, cooler weather and not looking forward to
returning to the Maryland heat for August. I hope to see many of you at our August meeting where
we will play Quilt-o.
Just a few reminders and info from me this month:
- Have you renewed your membership yet? You can pay with cash, check or credit card before
the meeting, cost is still $35 and a little cheaper if you are out of state. - How is your Summer Log Jam challenge coming along? You have plenty of time to complete
it since it’s not due until October. - The 2025-2026 Raffle Quilt needs a team to coordinate the creation of our next raffle
quilt. Maybe a mini-group would like to work on this or just a small group of friends. It could
be a simple or complex design but it helps if it’s eye-catching. Let me know if you are
interested or have some ideas. It takes a while to pull this together so we typically start in the
fall. - Trish McTighe and I will start working on Quilt Show stuff soon; think about how you might
want to support this effort for the guild. More info in late August or September. - The Montgomery County Fair is happening August 9th to 17th. Senior day is Tuesday, August
13th and admission is free if you are 62 or older. Our Raffle quilt will be entered and hopefully
it will win a ribbon. The quilt is beautiful. We hope to start selling raffle tickets in September. - The next Executive Board meeting is on Monday, August 12th on Zoom at 7pm. Please let me
or another officer know if you are interested in attending.
That’s all from me. See you at the meeting and have a great summer.
Anne
