President’s Message Judy Hoffman
There was an article in the December 23, 2022 Washington Post titled “For the Homeless a Little
Warmth”. It tells about an elementary school teacher who wanted to combine her fifth grade
geometry lesson with quilting. The class ended up making 2 quilts that they donated to charity.
The teacher has become an advocate for the homeless in Pennsylvania and organized a blanket
drive. She said, “There’s an amount of love in that handmade blanket that did not come from a
store, that whole idea that somebody made you a handmade blanket just because you matter.”
As a member of FSQ we all have a chance to do just that. Even if you are not able to attend Service
Projects that meets twice a month during the day, you can pick up kits to complete at home. Or by
just being a paid FSQ member, part of your dues contributes to materials for so many different size
blankets.
For that I say “THANK YOU” and look forward to witnessing your generosity and creativity in 2023.
