President’s Message
Michele Barnard
“June is bustin’ out all over
All over the meader and the hill
Flowers bustin’ out on bushes
And the roughen river pushes
Ev’ry little wheel that wheels beside the mill
June is bustin’ out all over
The ocean is full of Jacks and Jills
With the little tail is swishing’
Ev’ry lady fish is wishin’ that a male would come
And grab ‘er by the gills
Because it’s June, June, June, June
Just because it’s June, June, June!”

It’s cicada time in my yard right now! I don’t remember having this many 17 years ago – maybe my
aversion to pesticides is having a positive effect. Is anybody making a cicada quilt? I’m considering it
for my bug-loving daughter. However, keeping up with the weeding is cutting into my quilting time.
I’m still working on my Service Projects Rainbow Challenge quilt, though. (As well as the unfinished
Monochromatic Challenge from a couple of years ago.) How is yours coming along? I have blocks
done, and am slowly putting them together.
I love summer, and the start of summer gives my spirits a huge lift. That usually means my UFO pile
gets bigger. It’s worse this year – my telework station sits on top of the machine I usually quilt with!
There’s a long weekend coming up, so I may see if I can get some things sandwiched and quilted.
Miniature quilts are SO much easier to deal with, both when quilting and storing, and are more
tempting for that reason.
See you all on Zoom until we can meet in person, hopefully soon!
Yours in quilting,
Michele
