President’s Message
Anne Flaggs
Hello Quilters,
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying this topsy turvy weather we are having. Personally I like
the cooler days and don‟t like the heat but always enjoy a good walk in the woods. I‟ve run into
some of you on my wanderings, what a surprise it is to bump into someone on a trail.
We are finally going to try a Hybrid meeting for the May Guild meeting. A few days before the
meeting, the Zoom link will be sent out to everyone. We are still meeting in-person and would like
those that can make it to a meeting to continue coming to the church. There are always things
going on in the lobby before the meeting and it‟s a good chance to catch up with your quilting friends
and visit our library to check out a book. For those that can‟t make the meeting, I hope you will log
into the Zoom meeting and join us for the business meeting, program and show & tell.
Trish McTighe has volunteered to chair the Quilt Show 2025 committee with me. We also have
Barbara Kilby working closely with us. We are going back to Asbury but hope to utilize more space
to make the show bigger and better. We are planning on using the hallways that surround the
theater and maybe the theater itself if we can come up with some exciting and awesome
demos. The lighting in the main room has been updated and it looked brighter when we were there
this week to preview the available space. Do you have any suggestions or ideas to make our Quilt
show better? Are you willing to help chair a subcommittee to plan and run the show? Let me or
Trish know your thoughts. Some of my ideas include an awesome demo daily; challenge quilts lining
the hallway; service project quilts displayed in the hallway; a volunteer hangout area with some light
snacks; more space for the boutique and more but I‟d like to hear your suggestions. I will admit I
probably brainstorm better than actually make it to realization and sometimes I‟m thinking a bit too
far outside the box so I need help reeling in my expectations.
Opportunities:
-
- Our year is almost over and we will need to have 2 members review our financial records over
the summer after our fiscal year ends on May 31st. Let Trish McTighe or DeVeda Powell
know if you are willing to help out. - Think about helping with the Quilt Show in 2025, this is a bit early but we will be pulling the
team together over the summer and early fall and it‟s 1 year away. - The Yard Sale is next month and we need your quilting items that you are ready to separate
from. Contact any member of the yard sale committee for more information and drop off your
donations at the May meeting. - Raffle Ticket sales are winding down with the drawing happening in June. Have you turned in
your tickets and stubs yet to Karen Moss? If you need more tickets, see Karen in the lobby
before the meeting. - The yard sale and quilt raffle are our 2 major sources of income for the guild outside of
membership dues. We do need your support with these endeavors to be a successful
guild. It’s easy for us to spend money but a bit harder to make money so any help you can
provide to these events is appreciated.

That’s all from me, see you at the meeting.
